NewLife Team at Dulwich College: Promoting Health & Wellbeing
This week NewLife’s team was invited to Dulwich College Suzhou to share insights about health and wellbeing. Our highly experienced doctors and nurses presented to Year 7 students of Dulwich College on the following topics: exercise and fitness, nutrition and its impact, chronic illness, posture and sports injuries. The presentations had engaging and provocative nature that allowed students to question their daily lifestyle and choices to strive to achieve better and healthier future.
NewLife Presentations’ Summary
STATION 1: Food and Nutrition
Dr Jason Ho
This station focused on the importance of proper nutrition for overall health and well- being. It covered topics such as balanced diets, essential nutrients, meal planning, and the impact of food choices on the body.
Additionally, it encouraged students to assess their choices of foods.
STATION 2: Exercise and Health
Daisy Chang MSC
At this station, the emphasis was on the benefits of regular physical activity and exercise. It explored various types of exercises, their
effects on cardiovascular health, muscle strength, flexibility, and mental well-being. Additionally, it discussed exercise guidelines and tips for incorporating physical activity into daily routines.
STATION 3: Chronic Illnesses and Preventive Medicine
Dr Nick Kim
This station addressed chronic illnesses, their causes, and preventive measures. It covered common chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and common chronic disorders. The focus was on understanding risk factors, early detection, lifestyle modifications, and strategies for managing and preventing these conditions.
STATION 4: Importance of Posture and Sports Injuries
DR. Samuel Choong
To highlight the significance of maintaining good posture and preventing sports-related injuries is highlighted. It discussed the impact of poor posture on musculoskeletal health and provide tips for maintaining proper alignment.
